The Village Quarter Mixed-Use Development in McMinnville, Oregon’s Downtown Design District was completed in the summer of 2008. The project builds in main street qualities of the existing downtown core by incorporating familiar historic materials and details through a contemporary approach.
Project goals included balancing a variety of building scales within context, and creating an environment for seniors among a lively neighborhood setting. A landscaped courtyard on the second floor provides a private retreat for residence.
Rainwater harvesting provides for all of the toilet flushing, the plaza deck gardening and on-structure landscaping. Ecoroofs and in-situ landscaping sustain themselves without irrigation and maintenance. Stormwater management is self-contained within the project in a series of planters, ecoroofs, bioswales and infiltration facilities.
