The ecoroof for the OHSU skybridge is a simple no-maintenance, no-irrigation ecoroof. The system is a transferable option for the hospital to use throughout the campus on new and existing buildings.
The planting scheme is largely comprised of sedum and flowering herbaceous plants, however there are sections of native woody shrubs, ferns and fruiting plants that will become a habitat haven. The plantings are designed to slowly evolve with outside irrigation.
The project required that the installation be quick and lightweight due to its central location over the main vehicular access to the hospital facility. The project is still young in its design, however it is proving to be a better performing system over other ecoroofs at OHSU and those in the Portland metro area.
